If you are a moderate to high electricity consumer, how you manage your electricity purchases can have a direct impact on your bottom line. Often, the use of a few large pieces of equipment can significantly contribute to your power costs. Turn these electricity loads into electricity assets. Valeo's asset optimization helps you identify strategies to overcome and take advantage of rapidly fluctuating electricity prices.

Electricity costs are set on an hourly basis. this volatility means that a few high priced hours can significantly increase your average purchase price of electricity. To manage costs effectively, Valeo will help you identify opportunities to optimize how you use your electricity. Operational flexibility that manages consumption and takes full advantage of discretionary loads is an important part of your electricity purchase strategy.

The market for ancillary services is growing and potentially lucrative. Valeo will ensure your load flexibility creates value from your price response and participation in this emerging market. Also known as system support services, ancillary services are used by the operating and planning personnel to ensure the security and stability of the Alberta electric system. Larger customers with flexible load operations can provide these support services.

Valeo Power prepares the daily pricing report for clients that require or are interested in our daily forecast of prices from the Power Pool of Alberta. Larger customers with on-site operating personnel use the Daily Pricing Report to plan their facility operation, or to anticipate prices and respond accordingly. As well, the daily report contains information on forward market (wholesale) electricity prices, natural gas prices, as well as historical price information.

Electricity is a unique commodity because it can be produced on-site. This means you may have the ability to generate some or all of your own electricity. Deregulation opens the door for economical small-scale power generating plants. Valeo Power can assess the viability of on-site generation at your facility and can deliver a turnkey small-scale generating solution.

Distributed Generation
Customers can benefit from the construction of a small-scale power plant at or near the point of use.

Environmental Generation
Waste streams (such as gas flaring or biomass) may be available to generate on-site power.

Cogeneration
Exhaust heat from the on-site generator might be economically used for the other processes to further reduce energy costs, or capture waste heat from an existing industrial process to produce steam and generate electricity.
