Roger Wellmann, Vice-President - Operations
Roger is one of the original Valeo employees and is currently responsible for managing the company's day-to-day operations, as well as the energy needs and utilization strategies of a number of Valeo clients. Roger has twenty-two (22) years of marketing and engineering experience in the electric utility and petroleum industry. Prior to joining Valeo, Roger held positions with Engage Energy in energy procurement and with TransAlta in transmission design, energy procurement, product development and marketing.

 

Todd Smith
Todd is responsible for managing the power requirements for many of Valeo’s customers. His responsibilities include managing all interactions with the clients including procurement, advisory services, billing and settlement. As well, Todd is responsible for accessing the expertise within Valeo Power to meet the needs of his clients. Todd comes to Valeo Power from TransCanada Gas Services. He has 4 years experience with Natural Gas Operations and Trading. Todd has received his Bachelor of Management (Marketing) Degree from the University of Lethbridge.

Gordon Smillie
Gordon works as a business analyst for Valeo's Account Management and Systems groups, and is focused on delivering customized billing and settlement solutions to Valeo clients. Prior to joining Valeo in 2001, he completed his MBA at the University of Calgary. During the course of his degree, he assisted in developing a program management group at a public electricity utility. Before his switch in vocation, Gordon worked on inventory programs for major Alberta forest products firms and was a member of the Alberta Registered Professional Foresters Association.

John Hutchison
John is responsible for managing the information services requirements at Valeo. John brings over six years of experience in the electricity industry, and nine in the IT industry. His responsibilities include systems design and programming, account management, and technical support. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Calgary, and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta.

Grant Pellegrin
Grant is responsible for supporting clients in their electricity portfolio management. In this role Grant interacts with Valeo customers, staff and electricity wholesalers to manage the client’s electricity purchases. In addition, Grant is active in the development of new products, analysis of the electricity markets, and adapting Valeo’s existing product line to meet the needs of the client. Grant comes to Valeo from TransCanada Pipelines Power Marketing Group. Grant received his Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Calgary.

Kelly Protsko
Kelly holds the position of System Administrator at Valeo Power, his responsibilities include overall design and operation of the Valeo server and storage infrastructure as well as database and VMWare Administration. He is also responsible for developing custom billing solution software for use in retail operations. Kelly holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems as well as certifications from Microsoft and NetApp and has been working in I.T. for over 10 years.

Ray Poon
Ray is a software developer at Valeo Power and has written/maintained software for the Alberta electricity market since the electrical market was deregulated. He also has varied work experience in a number of industries doing software development, application support and project management in his 20 plus years in the I.T. field. Ray holds a B.Sc.(Math) from the University of Alberta.

David Lenz
David is a software developer whose primary responsibility is the continued development and operation of Valeo’s LSA activities. He is also involved in the development and maintenance of Valeo’s retail settlement and billing systems. David joined Valeo after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Lethbridge.
