In the wholesale electricity market, there are a variety of products that can be purchased to meet one's power needs. For example, suppliers offer base load, peaking load and other products to meet consumer demand over a given time period. Many consumers, however, opt to pay a fixed rate for full-requirements to effectively cap their power costs and minimize their exposure to price volatility.
